Draft Article

Ritz to Rubble are one of the quickest upcoming bands of 2014 and want to make 2015 even better for them. Ritz to Rubble have a very wide variety of music, with there genres including, Indie, Alternative, Rap and even Hip Hop. Formed in 2008, they were signed in January 2014 and they have had the best year of there for their musical careers, what will 2015 hold for this promising band.

Here's our exclusive interview with Josh Bucko (Vocals/Guitarist)

When did you meet and decide to make music together?

We all went to school together, from an early age, Meg had a thing for singing from when she was seven or summit like that, but the me (Josh) and Liam just started learning on some shit sounding instruments and learnt a few different chords and then we kinda just started a band, then later on Liam found out he could rap, and i was listening to a bit of heavier stuff at the time, then we started writing loads of different songs, including all these different genres. Then our drummer left in 2010, then we were fucked, we'd been playing for two years and got all these sweet tunes and no drummer but luckily, we knew Meg from school and she joined and her cousin played drums, so we adopted him, and he was pretty sweet on the drums, then we got serious for a solid 4 years and thankfully got signed.

How did you decide on the name Ritz To Rubble

Its not an amazing story, we basically nabbed, part of the Arctic Monkey's song titles, y'know From The Ritz to the Rubble, that song, yeah we just nicked the 'Ritz to Rubble' bit from that, sorry Alex!

How would you describe your sound?

Marmite, for sure, you'll either like it or hate it

Who did you grow up listening to?

All types, like that's why we have such a wide variety of music, like i grew up listening to Oasis, The Beatles, The Jam, and all that Indie/Alt shit, but also i was listening to Hip hop and Rap, like Public Enemy, NWA, Wu tang, n stuff like that and we all sorta share that wide music taste, where we like most music out there.

What influences you, other than music?

Well Being 22 and single, Girls is a big one, erm.. Greasy food, beer, getting pissed after a gig, y'know proper band lifestyle.

What new music are you listening to at the moment?

I'll be honest, none, half the new shit that's coming outs boring me man, the charts are shit, think the last album i bought was ours, so i guess i'm listening to us.

What's been the best gig you've ever played

Good question, well we played Reading and Leeds so they'd be obvious ones, cus of the atmosphere there, but i'd probably say about 3 months ago at the O2 Academy in Leicester to end our tour of Britain, it was class, cus it felt like a festival, cus they were a noisey bunch. It was the first time we played the big room, cus we'd been stuck in the smaller rooms for too long man, so making that big leap to the bigger room, infront of our people was unreal, and the atmosphere was crazy, beer and piss flying everywhere, proper gig!

Who are your biggest style Icons?

Probably Liam Gallagher, Me Dad and a Tramp

If you could have any artist cover you, dead or alive who would it be?

Erm, Gotta be Noel Gallagher, he's a living legend man, Oasis were the best band ever, the mans a genius, so its gotta be him.

You were quoted saying 'I hate being in the studio, i'd rather play gigs for the rest of my life' why do you enjoy doing gigs so much?

Because its one take, like if you fuck up, you fuck up and everyone will know, so i guess i like the pressure of it, and also having loads of pissed people screaming your name is a bonus, its the best feeling in the world.

How good a year was 2014 for you?

Fuck me, it was a mad year for us man, we finally got signed, after years of trying, but yeah, its been crazy, i think i've been home about 6 times this year, we've been touring Britain and America and its just been class and i hope 2015 will better.

Glad you mentioned 2015, what do you think 2015 will hold for Ritz To Rubble?

If its half as good as 2014 it'll be amazing, hopefully we just keep growing and getting bigger, continue selling out gigs, we're hoping to bring our second album out, which will be better than the first one, if i may advertise it, but yeah just want to get bigger and just fuck shit up.
