Language Register

All magazines have a certain formality or informality about them which allows the audience to relate to them, depending on what type of magazine it is. For example, NME relates to a younger audience so this is why there is an informal sense about the way it is written, this contrasts with Q magazine where the readers tend to be older so the language is far more formal and relates to an older audience. since my magazine is an Indie/Alternative magazine it will use a mixture of formal and informal language, due to the age range being so wide. Parts will be relaxed and very informal, using various slang words to relate to a more youthful audience, but in other parts it will sustain a sense of formality that relates to an older audience.
